Jordan Burroughs

Jordan BurroughsSport: Wrestling

Nation: United States of America

DOB: July 8, 1988

Career Highlights: Burroughs will be the face of USA Wrestling at the London Games after qualifying for his first Olympics. Burroughs has dominated senior level competition since graduating from the University of Nebraska in 2011. After winning his second NCAA title in 2011 - he also won in 2009 - he followed that by winning the U.S. Open and capped an incredible year by becoming the world champion. Just for good measure, he also won gold at the Pan American Games in October, a month after his world championship victory. Burroughs is only the fourth wrestler to ever win an NCAA title and a world championship in the same year. A native of New Jersey, Burroughs won a state title in 2006 at Winslow Township High School before heading to Lincoln, Neb., to wrestle for the Cornhuskers. He won the Dan Hodge Trophy in 2011 as the nation’s best collegiate wrestler. This year, besides winning the U.S. trials, he has finished first at the Dave Schultz Memorial International and the Cerro Pelado International. Burroughs has three siblings and graduated from Nebraska with his degree in sociology. He was forced to redshirt in 2009-10 after suffering a knee injury.
