Donn CabralSport: Track and Field

Nation: United States of America

DOB: December 12, 1989

Hometown: Glastonbury, CT

Career Highlights: A recent Princeton graduate with a degree in economics, Cabral has more than just a bright mind. He's also one of the world's best in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, fresh off winning the NCAA championship while setting the American collegiate record at 8:19:14. For a while at the U.S. Olympic trials, it didn't look like Cabral was going to wind up fulfilling his potential, though. Cabral's 8:30:64 in the preliminary round hardly impressed, but he improved in the final, posting an 8:19:81 that earned him a second-place finish and a ticket to the Olympics. Not bad for a guy who spent the last five months on his Ivy League campus sleeping in an altitude tent to simulate elevations of nearly 13,000 feet in order to increase his endurance. It's already paid off, but that move could look even more brilliant if he walks away with gold in London.
