Kellie Wells
Sport: Track and Field
Nation: United States of America
DOB: July 16, 1982
Hometown: Richmond, VA
Career Highlights: After years of injury and hardship, Wells will make her Olympic debut as one of the favorites in the 100-meter hurdles. Wells,
a two-time All-American at Hampton University, secured a spot in London after finishing second in the U.S. trials at the University
of Oregon with a time of 12.77 seconds. That was her first time back in Eugene since tearing her hamstring during the trials
for the Beijing Games, an injury that sidelined her for more than a year. She finally appeared to return to full strength
in 2011, winning the USA outdoor championships in the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.50 seconds and the USA indoor championships
in the 60-meter hurdles in 7.79 seconds. That summer, Wells revealed that as a teenager she was sexually abused by her mother’s
boyfriend. She moved out of the house as a 10th grader, and weeks later her mother was killed in a car accident.
