Posted: Sun February 8, 1998 at 11:06 a.m EST Finland 6, Sweden 0 -------------------Johanna Ikonen scored twice and Tuula Puputti stopped 12 shots in the first-ever women's Olympic hockey game as Finland blanked Sweden , 6-0. The women's tournament is comprised of six teams, with Canada and the United States expected to compete for the gold medal. Ikonen gave Finland a 2-0 lead on the power play 15:17 into the game and added an unassisted goal with 1:40 left to cap the scoring. Finland scored twice in each period and outshot the Swedes, 28-12. Puputti was hardly tested in recording the shutout, facing just three shots in the first period, four in the second and five in the third. Sweden 's Annica Ahlen turned aside 22 shots, including 10 in the first period.
