    Andreas Puschnig's second goal of the game with 69 seconds left enabled Austria to escape with a 5-5 tie against Kazakhstan , as both Group A teams remain unbeaten in the preliminary round.

    Dominic Lavoie also scored twice and added an assist for Austria , which was tied group favorite Slovakia , 2-2, Saturday. Kazakhstan came from behind to defeat Italy , 5-3, Saturday and can clinch a berth in the championship round by defeating Slovakia Tuesday.

    Lavoie tied the game at 2-2 with an unassisted goal 15:37 into the game, and Puschnig gave Austria a 3-2 advantage with a power-play goal 11:16 into the second period. Lavoie later staked the Austria ns to a two-goal lead on his third goal of the tournament with 5:40 to play in the period.

    Alexander Koreshkov and Konstantin Shafranov spearheaded Kazakhstan 's comeback, registering a goal and two assists each.

    Evgeny Koreshkov cut Kazakhstan 's deficit in half with 14 seconds to go in the second period and Shafranov and Alexander Koreshkov set up Andrei Sokolov's tying goal with 6:30 left to play. Alexander Koreshkov scored the go-ahead marker with 1:52 to play, 43 seconds before Puschnig's heroics.

    Shafranov scored his goal with 6:51 to go in the first period as Kazakhstan took a 2-1 edge.

    Vitali Yeremeyev stopped nine of 10 shots for Kazahstan in relief of Alexander Shimin. Shimin replaced Yeremeyev in Saturday's 5-3 victory over Italy and stopped all six shots he faced in the final two periods.

    One night after recording 36 saves against Slovakia , Austria 's Claus Dalpiaz stopped 18 of 23 shots.

    Both teams take a day off before returning to action on Tuesday (Monday night in the United States ). Kazakhstan battles Slovakia , and Austria plays Italy .
