    Team captain Cammi Granato scored twice and Sarah Tueting faced just 10 shots as the United States blanked China , 5-0, in its Olympic women's hockey debut in Nagano, Japan .

    Karyn Bye, Tara Mounsey, and Jen Schmidgall each had a goal and an assist and Katie King collected two assists for the United States , which moved into a three-way tie with Canada and Finland atop the standings. The Americans next face Sweden on Monday.

    Hong Guo made 26 saves for China , which is tied with Sweden and Japan at the bottom of the preliminary-round standings. Japan faces gold-medal favorite Canada on Monday.

    Granato, sister of San Jose Sharks winger Tony Granato, and Bye scored power-play goals in the first period for the United States . China was held without a shot on goal in the period.

    Mounsey scored at 14:53 of the second to give the Americans a three-goal lead and Schmidgall tallied at 11:05 of the third for a 4-0 U.S. advantage. Granto closed out the scoring 5:15 later with her second goal of the game.

    The United States was 2-for-7 on the power play and killed off five penalties.
