    Belarus 8, Germany 2 --------------------

Ruslan Salei, who got a jump on his National Hockey League colleagues by drawing a suspension, scored one of his team's three power-play goals as Belarus routed Germany , 8-2.

The victory, coupled with Japan 's 5-2 loss to France , assures Belarus of the Group B title and a berth in the championship round.

Salei, a member of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, was able to fly to Nagano for the entire preliminary round after he was suspended for two games for headbutting Sergei Krivokrasov of the Chicago Blackhawks on February 4th. Salei's power-play tally with 5:09 to go in the opening period extended Belarus ' lead to 2-0.

Andrei Kovalev, Alexander Galchenyuk and Alexander Alexeev each had a goal and an assist for Belarus (2-0), which will join Russia , Finland and the Czech Republic in Group D -- one of two four-team groups that will compete in the championship round.

Dieter Hegen and Brad Bergen scored power-play goals for Germany (1-1), which will have NHL players Olaf Kolzig, Marco Sturm and Uwe Krupp in the lineup for its final preliminary-round round game against France Tuesday. However, Kolzig, Sturm and Krupp will be arriving too late, since Germany has been eliminated from championship round contention.

Hegen's goal at 3:39 of the second period lifted Germany within 2-1, but Belarus pulled away as Alexander Andrievski and Kovalev scored 32 seconds apart midway through the period.

Andrei Mezin and Alexander Shumidub combined for 26 saves for Belarus , which will have Vladimir Tsyplakov of the Los Angeles Kings in the lineup Tuesday for its final preliminary-round game against Japan .
