Olympic Women's Hockey Recap (China-Sweden)

China 3, Sweden 1 -----------------

Hingmei Liu and Lan Zhang each had a goal and an assist as China scored three times in the third period and rallied for a 3-1 victory over winless Sweden in a preliminary-round game.

The victory assured China a berth in the medal round.

Coming off Wednesday's 6-1 rout of Japan , China was blanked for two periods by Annica Ahlen as Sweden protected a 1-0 lead. But Liu set up Lan Zhang's tying goal at 6:42 of the third period and scored the go-ahead tally just under four minutes later.

Xiuqing Yang added an insurance goal with 1:52 remaining as China squared its record in preliminary play at 2-2. Hong Guo turned aside 22 shots for the Chinese, who wrap up round-robin play against Finland on Friday.

Therese Sjoelander scored Sweden's lone goal midway through the second period, but the Swedes fell to 0-4 and have been outscored in the inaugural women's Olympic tournament, 21-5.
