Posted: Thur February 12, 1998 at 9:21 a.m EST Canada 4, Finland 2 -------------------Therese Brisson scored twice and Danielle Goyette recorded her tournament-leading seventh goal as Canada ensured a gold-medal showdown with the United States by defeating Finland, 4-2. Canada and the United States will meet in the final preliminary-round game Saturday, a game now rendered meaningless. The two teams will play for the gold medal next Monday. Finland will play China for the bronze. Brisson and Geraldine Heaney scored power play goals in a 4:05 span of the opening period to give Canada (4-0-0) a 2-0 lead. Brisson made it 3-0 with her fourth goal midway through the second period, chasing Finland goaltender Liisa-Maria Sneck. Petra Vaarakallio put Finland (2-2-0) on the board at 13:25 of the second period, but Goyette answered with a power play goal just 3:01 later. Vaarakallio set up Karoliina Rantamaki's third period goal which capped the scoring. Canada's Manon Rheaume made 19 saves for her second victory of the tournament.
