    Finland 2, Sweden 1 -------------------

Teemu Selanne scored a pair of third-period goals to lead Finland to a 2-1 upset victory over defending gold medal champion Sweden and a place in the semifinals of the men's Olympic hockey tournament.

Jarmo Myllys made 16 saves while Jyrki Lumme, Saku Koivu, and Jere Lehtinen collected assists for Finland (2-2), which will play Russia in a rematch of their championship game. The Finns squadered a two-goal lead in that game and lost, 4-3. They finished the round with just one victory over winless Kazakhstan .

Tommy Salo stopped 17 of 19 shots and Peter Forsberg scored his first goal of the tournament for Sweden (2-2), which played without rugged defenseman Ulf Samuelsson. Samuelsson was removed from the team after it was learned Monday he held citizenship in Sweden and the United States . The Swedish players said before the game they would dedicate every shot, goal and victory to Samuelsson.

Neither team generated much offense in the first two periods as the game remained scoreless heading into the third. Selanne, who leads the NHL with 37 goals while playing for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, broke the deadlock 4:12 into final period. He faked a pass to Koivu, who was standing along side him at the right doorstep, and beat Salo shortside for just his second goal of the tournament.

Selanne added his third at 12:43 off a feed from Koivu. He took the pass in front of the crease and wristed a shot past Salo.

Forsberg, who tallied the gold-medal winning shootout goal in Lillehammer, cut the deficit in half with a shot from the high slot with 12 seconds left and Salo off for an extra attacker.

Sweden went 0-for-3 on the power play while Finland was 1-for-3.
