Fake four Students charged with sending fake SOCOG lettersPosted: Saturday July 31, 1999 01:02 PM
SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Four university students have been charged after fake letters were sent to people telling them they had missed out on Olympic tickets for next year's Sydney Games. Investigators from the Olympic Investigation Strike Force charged the four with trademark and postal offenses after raiding a home in eastern Sydney on Friday night. Police said Saturday they had seized a number of items, including letters on fake letterhead of the Sydney Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG) which purported to tell people they had been unsuccessful in their attempts to secure Games tickets. Two 19-year-old men and two 18-year-old men will appear in court on a date to be fixed.
