  At the 1996 Olympic Games, Klim went to Atlanta as the No. 1 ranked swimmer in the 200-meter freestyle. He failed to reach the final in that event. He currently holds the world record in the 100-meter butterfly (51.81), becoming the first man to eclipse the 52-second mark.
