LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) -- The United States women's volleyball team bounced back from an opening loss to beat Canada 3-1 Saturday to win the Nike Americas' Volleyball Challenge and a berth in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
The victory was the second straight for the United States over Canada in the qualifier. The team also beat Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic en route to a 4-0 record.
The U.S. women earned an Olympic berth for the sixth straight time and eighth overall since the introduction of the sport in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
The Dominican Republic defeated Puerto Rico 3-0 for third place.
