In only his second season in the league (1996-97), Garnett helped Minnesota, which joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in 1989, to its first-ever playoff berth. The Timberwolves returned to the playoffs the next two seasons, but have yet to advance past the first round. This year, Garnett averaged 18.8 ppg in Minnesota's first-round playoff series with Portland, but the Timberwolves lost the best-of-five series 3-1.
