National Fencing champions crowned

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Elliott Clinton, Patrick Ghattas and Marten Zagunis of the Oregon Fencing Association won the team sabre title Sunday in the U.S. National Fencing Championships.

Clinton, Ghattas, and Zagunis beat the New York Athletic Club team of Patrick Durkan, Luke LaValle, Kim Phillips and Paolo Roselli 45-37 in the championship match.

In the team foil final, the Metropolis team of Robert Anderson, Matthew Catino, Zaddick Longenbach and Jonathan Tiomkin beat the New York Athletic Club's Ben Atkins, Cliff Bayer, Peter Devine and Marc Oshima 45-40.

Lisa Dobloug, Julia Leszko, Kristin Suchorski, Marie-Sophie Tar of the D.C. Fencers Club won the women's epee title, beating the New York Athletic Club's Raven Johnson, Alex Mummery and Toby Tolley 45-38.
