10 Questions Beach volleyball player Jennifer Johnson Jordan
Jennifer Johnson Jordan and her partner Annett Davis are the second ranked beach volleyball team in the world. Johnson Jordan is the daughter of two-time Olympic medalist Rafer Johnson. CNNSI.com caught up with her after a morning workout at Bondi Beach. 1. How was the plane ride over from the United States to Australia? Actually it was very easy. We left from Los Angeles at night and arrived in the morning. Then we spent the whole day down at the beach. Then we just went to bed are were fine. We acclimated. 2. How have you been training to get ready for the competition you'll face at the Games? We got over here early [September 7]. We wanted to get some good training in and get used the site, the wind and the conditions. And we feel like we've done that. 3. What do you think of Sydney so far? It's beautiful. We haven't had the chance to see a lot of Sydney, but it's really nice. 4. What do think about the volleyball stadium at Bondi Beach? This is by far one of the best facilities we have ever played in -- internationally. It's a great stadium, a great venue for our sport. Ten-thousand seats is not normal for a beach volleyball venue. So it'll be a lot of fun. 5. What's it like having your family here with you?
It's going to be great to have my family [mom, brother, husband and mother-in-law] here, to encourage and to support. I'm going to enjoy spending some time with them on my downtime. 6. Who do you think will reach the women's beach volleyball final? I don't make predictions. But the teams that have been consistently at the top are Australia, the United States and Brazil. 7. What about your chances to medal? I hope we do. I have confidence when we play our best volleyball. So as long as we do, we'll be OK. 8. How did you start playing volleyball? I think volleyball just chose me. That was the sport I excelled at most. And that's the one I stuck with initially. And I just grew to love it. I started playing in the seventh grade. I didn't know what it was or how to play, but I have been playing ever since. 9. Where do you get you motivation from? First and foremost I get my motivation from God, and then from my family and their support. 10. Are you looking forward to sharing and comparing experiences with your father when the Olympics are over? Even though we both are now Olympians, I think his experiences are going to be different than mine. So to be able to sit down and share with him what I went through at the village or here at the site is going to be something special.
