San Fran releases 2012 bid report SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- San Francisco's $2.2 billion bid to serve as host of the 2012 Olympic Games was released Wednesday, with information detailing what effects the event would have on the Bay area. Mayor Willie Brown and others were on hand to endorse the plan, which included a blueprint for the budget, transportation and an Olympic Village, which would be built on Moffett Field in Mountain View. The projected cost is $2.2 billion, with $2.8 billion in expected revenues. It marked the first time information was released by the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee. San Francisco is among eight U.S. cities competing for the bid. The U.S. Olympic Committee will narrow down the cities over several phases and make its final selection in the fall of 2002. The International Olympic Committee will then review all of the cities selected worldwide and decide in the fall of 2005 where the games will be held. The bid was initially submitted in December, but the USOC asked the details from all eight cities' bids be withheld until June.
