Romania's gymnasts without electricity BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) -- Romania's gold medal Olympic gymnasts wound up going to bed without showers for the past two days, after the electricity at their training camp was cut off because of unpaid bills, officials said Thursday. Coach Octavian Belu said the electricity and hot water went off Monday and a training session plunged into darkness. The school in Deva, some 300 kilometers (187 miles) northwest of Bucharest, owes 2 billion lei ($70,000) in unpaid electricity bills. Romania's gymnastics team is the nation's pride, but has been plagued by financial problems in recent years. Belu said he had contacted the town hall in Deva to help, but to no avail. His gymnastics squad won team gold in the Sydney Olympics, and the gold and silver medals in the all-around individual competition. Romania won the world gymnastics title in 1994, 1995 and 1997 under Belu and Mariana Bitang.
