Panel upholds boxer's drug suspension Posted: Saturday June 29, 2002 2:02 AMCOLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- An arbitration panel upheld the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency's suspension of boxer Joseph Pastorello after a positive drug test, the agency said Friday. A test at the U.S. National Boxing Championships in March 2001 showed Pastorello, 30, of Colorado Springs, had prohibited levels of 19-norandrosterone, a substance related to anabolic agents, the Anti-Doping Agency said. Pastorello was suspended for 18 months, starting Jan. 18. He was disqualified from his second-place finish in the light-heavyweight division at the 2001 championships. The Anti-Doping Agency is an independent, federally funded group that oversees drug testing and discipline for U.S. Olympic athletes.
