SYDNEY, Sept 22 (AFP) - China's Ding Meiyuan won the gold medal in the Olympic women's weightlifting 75kg and over category final here Friday.

Poland's Agata Wrobel took silver while Cheryl Haworth of the United States took bronze.

Ding set new three new world records on her way to victory, lifting 135kg in the snatch and 165 in the clean and jerk for a new record overall score of 300kg.

The old combined record had stood at 290kg, set silver medallist Wrobel in July.
