Ukraine's Milchev wins gold in men's skeet, tying world record
SYDNEY, Sept 23 (AFP) - Mykola Milchev of Ukraine won the men's Skeet shooting gold medal here Saturday, equalling the world record with a perfect score of 150 points. Milchev, Czech silver medallist Petr Malek, and Dutchman Gijs van Beek all finished the first day of qualifying Friday with flawless scores. But only the 32-year-old from Odessa remained flawless through the rest of the competition as Malek dropped two shots to finish with a score of 148 and Gijs failed to make the final. American James Graves ended with a score of 147 to take bronze. Milchev's previous best result had been a second in the European championships, ahead of Malek who took third. Both Jan-Henrik Heinrich, the German who first set the world record of 150, and Atlanta gold medallist Ennio Falco, the Atlanta gold medallist, failed to make the final.
