SYDNEY, Sept 23 (AFP) - China's Ji Xinpeng won the Olympic men's single badminton gold medal here Saturday.

The talented seventh seed defeated Indonesia's Hendrawan 15-4, 15-13 to take the gold medal. His beaten opponent took silver.

Ji's compatriot Xia Xuanza took bronze earlier in the day after beating world number one Peter Gade of Denmark in the third place playoff.
