Raducan arrives for CAS hearing
SYDNEY, Sept 27 (AFP) - Andreea Raducan, stripped of her Olympic gymnastics all-around gold medal for doping, arrived for her hearing before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Wednesday flanked by Romanian Olympic officials. Ion Tiriac, head of the Romanian Olympic Committee, and Alexandru Lazarescu, chef-de-mission for the Romanian team, hustled the diminutive gymnast through the media pack into the building in The Rocks historic district of Sydney. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) have refused to soften their stance on Raducan, who tested positive for the banned stimulant pseudo-ephedrine. IOC officials admitted the tiny 16-year-old was the victim of an accident and gained no benefit from the pills, they stuck to a firm "rules are rules" line.
