SYDNEY, Oct 1 (AFP) - The International Boxing Federation Sunday suspended Russian referee Stanislav Kirsanov for four years but dismissed a US protest against one of their beaten fighters at the Olympics Sunday.

World champion Ricardo Juarez suffered his first defeat in 69 bouts when he went down 22-14 on points to Kazakhstan's Bekzat Sattarkhanov in the featherweight division.

USA Boxing protested to the federation over the referee's failure to take points off Sattarkhanov for persistent holding and grabbing in the final two rounds of the fight and the result of the final.

A USA Boxing spokeswoman said referee Kirsanov had been suspended for four years but the result of the fight would stand unaltered.
