The preseason college football Coaches' Poll was released a few weeks ago, and the first AP Poll of the season is set to come out soon. The order of both rankings will be debated endlessly, because this is football, and because this is how it's always worked. Perhaps an equally contentious question involves mascots: Which is the best one in college football? And who are we to derive you of that conversation? The list that follows is a ranking of the top mascots from No. 25 to No. 1, along with a brief explanation for each. Before jumping into it, here are the mascots (in no particular order) that just missed the cut: Reveille (Texas A&M), Bucky Badger (Wisconsin), Brutus (Ohio State), Falcon (Air Force), The Leprechaun (Notre Dame), The Traveler (USC), Tusk (Arkansas), The Hokie Bird (VirginiaTech), The Masked Rider (Texas Tech), The Zip (Akron).

When your coach (inset) looks like your mascot, you're going to make the list. Apologies to Bucky Badger, but when Bret Bielema left for Arkansas, it bumped him right off the Top 25. Bonus points for Goldy's profile on the Minnesota site.
