What to watch for
There has not been a repeat winner at Richmond in the past nine races. Tony Stewart was the last to accomplish the feat, and based on his most recent performances, he gets the favorite’s tag. The Home Depot Chevy led a total of 143 laps last season en route to finishes of seventh and second. This crew is just a tweak away from winning its first race at RIR since 2002.

Sophomore Kyle Busch has to be considered a contender after his two consistent showings last season. The Las Vegas native registered two fourth-place finishes, an impressive accomplishment for a rookie on a short track.

Kasey Kahne should be ready to get back to the track where he earned his first win. Kahne, like Busch, was very consistent at RIR last year, recording finishes of first and eighth.

Greg Biffle will once again be tough. The National Guard team has finishes in the top 10 in three consecutive Richmond events, including a third in the September race in ’05 that completed a Roush Racing sweep of the top three spots.

Keep an eye on...
Dale Earnhardt Jr. -- This is one of Junior’s favorite tracks; the Bud Chevy has two wins and six career top 5s at RIR. If the Bud bunch is back on track in ’05, they’ll be tough here.

Kevin Harvick -- Harvick has had several near-misses at Richmond, the latest coming last September when he won the pole and led 167 laps before losing the handle late and fading to 10th.

Jeremy Mayfield -- Richmond is also one of Mayfield’s favorite tracks. Since the start of the 2002 season, he has five top 10 finishes, including one win.
