1965: Born Bath, England, July 7.

1989: International debut against Romania, scores try hat trick. Selected for British Lions tour of Australia, scores a try in the second test.

1990: Ever-present in England's Five Nations campaign. 1991 - Helps England win Grand Slam. Plays in World Cup final defeat by Australia.

1992: Participates in another Five Nations Grand Slam.

1993: Plays in all three tests in Lions' New Zealand tour.

1994: Suffers serious groin-pelvic injury which restricts international appearances.

1995: Returns to play role in World Cup in South Africa. England win another Grand Slam and he scores superb solo try against France.

1997: Kicks series-winning drop goal for Lions vs. South Africa in Durban.

1998: More injury problems and does not tour Australia.

1999: Named in England World Cup squad. Scores twice against Tonga in group round -- his last international.

October 21, 1999: Announces retirement from international game after groin injury hampers campaign.

65 Caps for England 1989-1999.
30 Tries, second in England all time list behind Rory Underwood.
