SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Five-eighth Manuel Edmonds was named Sunday to make his test debut for Australia in Tuesday's Rugby World Cup Pacific qualifying match against Tonga in Canberra.

Coach Rod Macqueen made a minimum of 10 changes to the team that defeated Fiji 66-20 at Parramatta Stadium in Sydney on Friday.

Captain and second rower John Eales and backs Tim Horan, Daniel Herbert and Jason Little are the only players retained from last Friday's side with fullback Joe Roff bracketed with uncapped Stirling Mortlock.

Roff is nursing a rib cartilage injury and Mortlock will make his test debut if Roff is not fit.

Australian team

Joe Roff or Stirling Mortlock, Jason Little, Daniel Herbert, Tim Horan, Mitch Hardy, Manuel Edmonds, Chris Whitaker, Toutai Kefu, Brett Robinson, Owen Finegan, John Welborn, John Eales (captain), Glenn Panoho, Jeremy Paul, Dan Crowley.
