Latham scores twice in Queensland win

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand (AP) -- Chris Latham scored two tries and Queensland held off a second-half Canterbury rally to beat the Crusaders 36-23 in a Super 12 rugby union match Saturday.

Damian Smith scored the other Queensland try while Nathan Spooner kicked five penalties and three converts.

Afato So'oalo, Mark Hammett and James Kerr scored Canterbury tries while All Black Andrew Mehrtens kicked two penalties and a convert.

The win moved Queensland, which led 20-5 at halftime, into a tie for first place with New Zealand side Otago in the Super 12 standings.
