Broken down Springbok No.8 Skinstad ruled out for rest of 2000Posted: Tuesday April 25, 2000 03:59 PM
CAPE TOWN, South Africa (Reuters) -- Springbok number eight Bobby Skinstad has been ruled out of rugby for the rest of the year because of a recurring knee injury. Skinstad will miss South Africa's entire 2000 international program which includes three tests each against England and Australia and two against New Zealand. He has been advised to take a conservative approach to his second comeback from a knee injury originally suffered in a car accident last April. He was declared fit for the Springboks' World Cup campaign but failed to inspire and broke down again in training for the Stormers' Super 12 campaign in January. South African Rugby Football Union medical consultant Ismail Jakoet said Tuesday Skinstad's safest option was "to take the rehabilitation one step at a time."
