SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Brad Fittler and Craig Wing scored tries Sunday as the Sydney Roosters handed the first-place Bulldogs their first loss of the National Rugby League season.

The Roosters' 38-12 win moved team into second place after six rounds, a point behind the Bulldogs and ahead of the Brisbane Broncos and the Sharks on point difference.

In other Sunday matches, the Canberra Raiders beat the Parramatta Eels 22-6 and the Newcastle Knights downed the Melbourne Storm 36-28.

North Queensland scored four tries Saturday to beat Wests Tigers 24-10 at Townsville. The win, the first for the season at home, came on the night North Queensland coach Tim Sheens equaled Warren Ryan's National Rugby League all-time coaching record of 415 games.

Stacey Jones kicked a field goal with eight minutes left to give New Zealand Warriors a 13-12 upset win over the Broncos.

David Peachey and Russell Richardson crossed for converted tries in the 65th and 72nd minutes to seal a 31-12 win for the Sharks over Penrith.

On Friday, St. George Illawarra fought back from a month of turmoil to defeat the Northern Eagles 48-18. Despite having 11 first-graders unavailable through injury and suspension, St. George Illawarra scored eight tries.
