'So far so good' Dallaglio confident of full recovery for Lions tourUpdated: Saturday May 26, 2001 11:20 AM
LONDON (Reuters) -- Lawrence Dallaglio is confident he will have fully recovered from his knee injury in time to take part in the British Lions tour of Australia. The Lions, the cream of British and Irish rugby, got together Saturday and Dallaglio, who strained knee ligaments earlier this month, told RugbyIcons.com that it was "so far so good." "Although I'm not in the business of making any predictions, I know I have given myself every chance of being on the plane to Australia next week," the England back row said. "The good news is that I've been lifting more and more weight with my knee as the week has gone on and I've been running further and further, which is a positive sign with this sort of knee injury. "I haven't been given any details about a formal fitness test and I believe it is just a case of wait and see after I link-up with the Lions management and their medical team. It is important the Lions medical team have a good look at me before we make any decisions about whether a fitness test is needed before we depart. "I'll be pleased when they have the time to sit down with me and have a good look at the injury. The management have given me the scope, and every chance of making it and it is still getting better every day." Dallaglio was a vital member of the Lions team which beat South Africa 2-1 in its last series in 1997. The 2001 vintage will be together for a week in southern England before departing for Australia on June 1.
