SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- The Super 12-champion ACT Brumbies have placed 13 players in a 31-man Australian squad to take on the Irish and British Lions and for the Tri-Nations rugby union competition.

The Australian Rugby Union said Monday that five uncapped test players have been included -- Brumbies winger Graeme Bond, prop Ben Darwin and lock Justin Harrison and Queensland prop Nick Stiles and lock Nathan Sharpe.

There were six New South Wales players named, led by Matt Burke, and 12 from Queensland, including test captain John Eales.

Wallabies coach Rod Macqueen, who is chairman of selectors, said in-form players were favored because of the short build-up to the first Lions match on June 30 in Brisbane.

"The Brumbies have set the benchmark in this year's Super 12 series and as you can see by their representation, they have been rewarded," said Macqueen.

All selections are subject to medical clearance.

The Wallabies will assemble in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales on Saturday.

The Australian squad: Graeme Bond, Matthew Burke, Matt Cockbain, Mark Connors, Ben Darwin, John Eales, Owen Finegan, Elton Flatley, Michael Foley, David Giffin, George Gregan, Nathan Grey, Justin Harrison, Daniel Herbert, James Holbeck, Toutai Kefu, Chris Latham, Stephen Larkham, David Lyons, Rod Moore, Glenn Panoho, Jeremy Paul, Joe Roff, Nathan Sharpe, George Smith, Nick Stiles, Ben Tune, Andrew Walker, Phil Waugh, Chris Whitaker, Bill Young.
