Another win England puts together eight tries in 59-20 victoryUpdated: Sunday June 10, 2001 1:31 AM
VANCOUVER, Canada (Reuters) -- England achieved a record-equalling 10th successive test win with a comprehensive 59-20 victory against Canada on Saturday, making it a clean sweep of the two-test series. Canada had few answers as England chalked up eight tries, including two apiece by stand-off Dave Walder and lock Simon Shaw. Walder's three penalty goals and five conversions gave the Newcastle stand-off a total of 29 points but it was his ability to control the game that marked him out as England's outstanding player. Canada were unable to produce the same threat behind the scrum but managed two second half tries from powerful flanker Danny Baugh and winger Sean Fauth. Canada, who gave away far too many penalties, were swamped by the sheer pace of the England side, especially behind the scrum, where the young backs posed a threat whenever they were in possession. England manager Clive Woodward said: "We played well last week in the first test but today we got the execution right. We knew that if we clicked we'd win." "Walder is an outstanding footballer. He's still got to get his goalkicking right but I've seen him hit 10 from 10 at Newcastle so I know he can do it. We've got to take credit for picking guys like that." England suffered a couple of injuries, wing Paul Sampson hurt his shin and skipper Kyran Bracken received a knock on his shoulder.
