DANIEL HERRERA (coach). Age 37. One of the youngest coaches at the tournament- three years younger than his captain - and has been in charge since 1994. Since then has overseen a crucial period in the development of the sport in Uruguay, helping develop a game plan based on rucking and mauling. Great motivator and thinker about the game.
MARTIN CERVINO. Fullback. Age 20. 1.83m. 87kg. Caps: Three. Student. Not yet a regular but a name for the future.
ALFONSO CARDOSO. Fullback/wing. Age 27. 1.74m. 74kg. Caps: 21. Administrator. Scored a try in the repechage victory over Portugal that clinched qualification.
JUAN MENCHACHA. Fullback. Age 22. 1.74m. 75kg. Caps: Two. Businessman.
JOSE VIANA. Wing/fullback. Age 22. 1.85m. 85kg. Caps: Five. Student.
PABLO COSTABILE. Wing. Age 30. 1.85m. 90kg. Caps: 22. Administrator.
MARTIN FERRES. Wing. Age 28. 1.71m. 82kg. Caps: 28. Doctor.

DIEGO AGUIRRE. Flyhalf. Age 25. 1.86m. 95kg. Caps: 29. Student. Reliable kicker who can also play scrumhalf.
SEBASTIAN AGUIRRE. Flyhalf. Age 23. 1.83m. 90 kg. Caps: eight. Student.
FEDERICO SCIARRA. Scrumhalf/flyhalf. Age 33. 1.71m. 80kg. Caps: 40. Businessman. Vital to Uruguay's hopes. Scored 43 points from flyhalf in two qualifying games against Paraguay and Chile then moved back to his preferred scrumhalf position. Good all-rounder and back-up kicker to Aguirre.
FERNANDO SOSA DIAZ. Scrumhalf. Age 28. 1.68m. 83kg. Caps: Seven. Student.
GUILLERMO LAFFITE. Number eight. Age 22. 1.80m. 95kg. Caps: six. Student.
DIEGO ORMAECHEA (captain). Number eight. Age 40. 1.82m. 98kg. Caps: 61. Veterinarian. The oldest player in the tournament. Made his debut as a 19 year old back in 1979 but took two more years to become a regular. Plans to retire after the World Cup.
MARTIN PANIZZA. Flanker. Age 29. 1.88m. 99kg. Caps: 42. Agronomist.
NICOLAS GRILLE. Flanker. Age 24. 1.96m. 103kg. Caps: 15. Businessman.
NICOLAS BRIGNONI. Flanker. Age 23. 1.94m. 99kg. Caps: 11. Student.

GUILLERMO STORACE. Prop. Age 25. 1.83m. 115kg. Caps: 17. Coach. Scored a try against Canada in 36-15 qualifying defeat in Buenos Aires.
FRANCISCO DE LOS SANTOS. Hooker. Age 29. 1.78m. 98kg. Caps: 26. Agronomist
DIEGO LAMELAS. Hooker. Age 26. 1.68m. 90kg. Caps 16. Businessman.
