Rooney, a senior outside hitter at Pepperdine, was named most outstanding player in the NCAA tournament as the Waves won the national title. He had a 52-match double-digit kill streak and was also the American Volleyball Coaches Association's men's Division I-II player of the year.

Stone, a junior goalie at Stonehill College, has gone a school-record 17-0 for the Chieftains. She leads the NCAA's Division II with a 3.67 goals-against average, and her .609 save percentage is second. She has been Northeast-10 goalkeeper of the week eight times in nine weeks this season.

Scott, a senior shot-putter at Florida State, broke a 28-year-old meet record with a throw of 64'4" to win the Atlantic Coast Conference outdoor championship, helping the Seminoles to the team title. Two weeks earlier he won the shot put competition at the Texas Relays.

Cohen, a freshman at Northwestern, became the second athlete in Big Ten history to be named both freshman and athlete of the year. She broke the Wildcats' single-season singles record with 44 wins and helped the school to its seventh consecutive conference title.
