Zemenova, a sophomore at Baylor, became the first unseeded player to win the NCAA singles title and earned the Honda Award for women's tennis, given to the nation's most outstanding athletes. She was also the Big 12 singles champ and finished the year with a 25-9 record.

Samuels, a recent graduate of Mount Tabor High, won the 100-meter dash at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships. A week earlier he won the 100-meters and 200-meters at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. He will attend Arkansas on a track scholarship this fall.

Megan Elliott
PRINCE FREDERICK, MD. > Softball
Megan, a senior righthander at Calvert High, pitched two perfect games in the postseason, leading the Cavaliers to the Maryland 2A championship. She went 22-1-1 with 21 shutouts and a 0.08 ERA for the season, and in 35 postseason innings struck out 74 while allowing only two hits.

Vontz, a recent graduate of the University of California, led his team to a 44-7 win over Utah, giving the Bears their 21st national collegiate rugby championship. The three-time All-America hooker and skipper was named the tournament's most valuable player.

Lauren Dougher
BLUE BELL, PA. > Lacrosse
Dougher, a senior at the College of New Jersey, helped her school beat top-ranked Salisbury in the championship game and set an NCAA Division III record with 25 points in four tournament games, as the Lions won their 11th national lacrosse title. She led the team with 102 points for the season.

Jordan Dickey
PENDLETON, IND. > Power Soccer
Jordan, a seventh-grader at Pendleton Heights Middle School who competes against older players in this wheelchair sport, was named the Division I one-on-one champion and the MVP of the World Power Soccer Invitational. He scored 18 goals in the tournament for his team, Sudden Impact.
