Aaron Mayfield
HODGENVILLE, KY. > Baseball

Aaron, a senior righthanded pitcher at LaRue County High, threw back-to-back perfect games against Corbin and Heath, tying the national high school record. He finished the season 11-2 with a 1.25 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 67 1/3 innings. He was a state East/West All-Star.

Justin Gaymon
STEWARTSVILLE, N.J. > Track and Field

Gaymon, a junior at Georgia, defended his Southeastern Conference and NCAA East Regional titles in the 400-meter hurdles, winning in 48.53 seconds, the nation's top collegiate time and third best in the world. He was named the South region's track athlete of the year and is a four-time All-America.

Amanda Ortiz
PONCE, PUERTO RICO > Water Polo

Ortiz, a junior at Cal State-Bakersfield, had 104 goals in 33 games and was the Western Water Polo Association player of the year. This was the second straight year she led the team in goals; she also led in assists (39) and steals (74). She is a member of the Puerto Rican national team.

Kelley Montalvo
MIAMI > Softball

Montalvo, a junior third baseman at Alabama, reached base in 13 of 15 plate appearances, going 7 for 9 with six walks and nine runs as the Crimson Tide won two of three over then No. 4 Tennessee; she was national player of the week. This year she hit .373 with 10 home runs and was first-team All-Southeastern Conference.

Willie Neal
JACKSON HOLE, WYO. > Cross-country Skiing

Willie, a senior at Jackson Hole Community School, won eight individual Nordic state championships in four years, four in the classic technique and four in skating. This year he won the 10K skate in 26:37.1 and the 8K classic in 23:29.0.

Emily Sisson
OMAHA > Track and Field

Emily, a sophomore at Millard North High, won three individual events at the Class A meet -- the 800 meters, the 1,600, and the 3,200 -- and anchored the winning team in the 4X800 relay. She was fourth in the 3,000 and the 5,000 at junior nationals.
