Jessica Spigner
SANTA CLARITA, CALIF. > Softball

Spigner, a Tennessee-bound graduate of Valencia High, was EA Sports' national player of the year and CalHiSports.com's and Gatorade's state player of the year. A righthanded pitcher, she was 29-5 with an 0.62 ERA and hit .480 with 12 home runs and 37 RBIs.

Mason Finley
SALIDA, COLO. > Track and Field

Mason, a senior this fall at Buena Vista High, won the discus, javelin and shot put at the State Games of the West, a meet of high-school-age athletes from 14 states. A two-time Colorado Class 3A champ in the discus and shot put, he had the nation's longest discus throw for a high schooler this year (222' 1").

Brint Hardy
HOMEWOOD, ALA. > Baseball

Hardy, a senior outfielder at Alabama-Birmingham, was named MVP of the summer Alaska Baseball League after leading the circuit in batting (.421), hits (59), runs (33) and stolen bases (27 in 28 tries) while playing 37 games for the Athletes in Action Fire. For UAB this spring he batted .338 with 24 steals.

Kaillie Briscoe
ORANGEVILLE, ONT. > Lacrosse

Briscoe, a senior attacker at Hamilton, had two goals and two assists in the Division III championship, leading the Continentals to a 13-6 win over Franklin & Marshall for the school's first national title in any sport. She was the first in team history with at least 100 points, scoring 66 goals and adding 41 assists.

John Jennings
ST. PETERSBURG > Sailing

Jennings, 67, a chiropractor, teamed with Julia Valdez to finish third out of 33 boats in the 47th Windmill Class Association national championship for 15 1/2-foot racing sailboats. In 1961 he won the inaugural edition of the race, which is held every summer at Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, N.H.

Anne Marie Armstrong
NORCROSS, GA. > Basketball, Track and Field, Volleyball

Armstrong, a senior at the Wesleyan School, has won seven state titles in three years: three in volleyball, two in basketball and two in the high jump. Named Georgia's Miss Basketball, she averaged 19.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.5 steals.
