Cee, a sophomore at Villa Park High, won the under-17 girls' singles title at the USA Badminton Junior National Championships. She also won the U-17 doubles title, with partner Claudia Hardi, and the mixed doubles, with partner and cousin Phillip Chew. This is the fourth straight year Cee has swept all three events in her age group.
Valle, a 43-year-old high school teacher, won three gold medals in the women's 40-44 division at the World Masters Athletic Championships in Lahti, Finland. She was first in the 800 meters (2:18.17), the 1,500 (4:34.82) and the 2,000 steeplechase (7:01.91). She also anchored the 4x400 relay team, which won a bronze medal (4:12.67).

PHILADELPHIA > Boxing
Damon, a senior at Communications Technology High, won the boys' 15-16 open division in the 125-pound class at the Ringside World Championships in Kansas City, Mo., for the second year in a row. Trained by Mitchell Allen, his 81-year-old great-grandfather, Damon also won gold in the 15-16 division at the Junior Golden Gloves Nationals.
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. > Baseball
Roller, a senior DH at East Carolina, was named MVP of the Cape Cod league after leading the loop in runs (33), doubles (13), home runs (10), RBIs (33) and slugging percentage (.644). He then earned playoff MVP honors when he batted .500 (7 for 14) with six runs and eight RBIs in helping the Bourne Braves win their first championship.
SANTA ROSA BEACH, FLA. > Waterskiing
Jaquess, 25, set or tied three world records this summer. At the Florida Inboards Open she tied the women's slalom mark (one buoy at 41 feet off), and her point total in slalom, tricks and jumping set the women's overall record (2,895.45 points). Two weeks later, at the Guadalajara International Cup, she broke the overall mark again (2,934.36).
COLUMBUS, GA. > Marksmanship
Sgt. 1st Class James Henderson, 42, won the individual title at the National Rifle Association Pistol Championships, becoming the first active-duty soldier to win the award in 24 years. He was first in the .22-caliber and center-fire events in that competition. At the National Trophy Pistol Matches the next week, he won five events en route to the individual championship.
