Shelbi Vaughan
Mansfield, Texas > Track and Field

Shelbi, a senior at Mansfield Legacy High, set a national discus record (191'6") at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 30, shattering her personal best of 176'9", established just a week earlier. She also won the meet's shot put event (48'11"). The defending 5A state discus champ, she won gold at the junior Pan American Games (174'3") last summer. Shelbi, who will attend Texas A&M on a volleyball scholarship, led the Broncos in kills (579), blocks (70) and aces (51) last fall.

Colin Friedman
Santa Fe > Baseball

Colin, a senior at St. Michael's, pitched a perfect game for his third consecutive no -hitter, a state record, to lead the Horsemen to a 3-0 win over Pojoaque Valley. The righthander threw 77 pitches (61 strikes) over seven innings, fanning 12 and extending his hitless streak to 18 innings. He started his tear 11 days earlier with a no-hitter against Raton High (six innings, 7-0), followed by another against Bloomfield High (five innings, 10-0). Through Sunday he has an 0.78 ERA.

Cortney Fortunato
Northport, N.Y. > Lacrosse

Cortney, a junior attacker at Northport High, had a career-high 10 goals and added two assists in a 22-8 win over Commack. A varsity player since seventh grade, she scored the winning goal last year at the Class A state championship with 1.3 seconds left in double overtime for the Tigers' first title. Through Sunday she leads the team with 26 goals and 13 assists. In August she was the youngest member and lead scorer of the world champion U-19 national team with 34 points in eight games.

Steele Stanwick
Baltimore > Lacrosse

Stanwick, a senior attacker at Virginia, led the Cavaliers with three goals and four assists in a 15-10 win over North Carolina for his fourth seven-plus-point game this season. He leads the nation in assists (3.25 per game) and is fourth in points (4.75) through Sunday, and he is the 46th NCAA D-I player to reach the century mark in both career goals and assists. Stanwick won college lacrosse's highest honor, the Tewaaraton Trophy, last year after leading Virginia to the NCAA title.

Michelle Moultrie
Jacksonville > Softball

Moultrie, a senior centerfielder at Florida, led the Gators to a three-game sweep over Arkansas, going 8 for 11, with three doubles and two homers. In 2011 she led all players at the Women's College World Series in hits, doubles, homers, total bases and stolen bases to be named co-Most Outstanding Player, and she helped Team USA win gold at both the World Cup of Softball and Pan American Games. Florida's career stolen bases leader (78), she's a finalist for USA Softball's college player of the year.

Tyler Pennel
Golden, Colo. > Track and Field

Pennel, a senior at Western State College, ran an NCAA season-best 28:23.54 in the 10,000-meters at the Stanford Invitational for the fifth fastest time in the world so far this year. His performance, nearly 16 seconds ahead of the No. 2 collegiate time, met the Olympic Trials B standard and earned him recognition from the Bowerman Award, given to the NCAA's top track and field athlete of the year. Pennel was the D-II cross-country runner-up last fall to help the Mountaineers to the national title.
