Taylor, a sophomore at Holland High, defended her 100-yard butterfly state title (54.72) and won the 100 backstroke (53.81) to lead the Dutch to its second straight Division 2 state title. A ­member of the 200 medley relay team that set a national public high school record last year, she contributed to this year’s title as part of the winning 200 medley and 400 free relay teams as well, all despite swimming with a broken thumb. Taylor was named Michigan’s swimmer of the year.

Stieber, a redshirt sophomore at Ohio State, had four pins en route to winning the 133-pound final at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational, where the No. 1-ranked Buckeye defeated No. 2 Nathan ­McCormick of Missouri in a 12-1 major decision. Steiber's win clinched OSU's second consecutive event championship, and he was named the meet's most outstanding wrestler. The winner of NCAA and Big Ten titles in his weight class last season, he is 12-0 this year with seven victories via fall.

T.J., a 5' 11", 165-pound senior tailback at Northern Guilford High, carried the ball 28 times for 510 yards and eight touchdowns to break North Carolina's alltime single-game rushing record and lead the Nighthawks to a third straight 3A state title, 64-26 over Charlotte Catholic. Named the game's MVP, he scored three times in the fourth quarter, twice on runs of 82 and 73 yards, and his eight TDs were a championship-game record. T.J., who runs a 4.4-second 40-yard dash, is verbally committed to UNC.

Oneda, a freshman at Johns Hopkins, led the Blue Jays to the NCAA Division III team title by finishing 10th (for eight points) in 21:26.3 at the national championships in Terre Haute, Ind. The title is the first in program history and the first NCAA championship in a women's sport in school history. The top freshman finisher at the NCAA's, Oneda won both the Centennial Conference and NCAA Mideast Regional titles earlier this season. She was named Centennial Conference rookie of the year.

Zach, a senior at K¹² online school, topped the speed charts with a time of 1:18.4717, setting an unofficial track record at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway while testing a Firestone Indy Lights car against 12 other eligible drivers at the Brickyard in October. His winning test run earned him a ride in the 12-race Indy Lights series with Andretti Autosport for 2013. This past year he also won his second straight Formula Car Challenge in the Goodyear Winter Series championship.
