The Greek God of blogs

Man, everybody's got a blog these days. Now Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis has joined teammate Curt Schilling in the blogosphere. He's even asking fans to choose a name for his blog. (If my experience is any guide, he'll also get lots of unsolicited tips on whether or not he should keep that batting helmet on in his picture.) Anyway, it's a solid read. Youkilis does a lot of mock trash-talking about supposedly being faster than teammate Dustin Pedroia. Our favorite passage:

"As far as I’m concerned, I’ve already proven I’m faster than Dustin but, who knows, maybe we can have a race for charity sometime. It couldn’t be during the season –- in case one of us ever tweaked a hamstring or something -– but maybe we could do it in the offseason. It would be fun."

Ahh, that's baseball for you. Two in-season major leaguers are legitimately concerned that if they tried to sprint 40 yards, their muscles might explode. Somewhere an NFL defensive back or NBA point guard is chuckling.

That's actually the funniest thing I've read all day. What a ridiculous thing for an athlete to write. And I'm tempted to put athlete in quotations, but I won't.

Seriously, McEntegart, what happened to your hat?

I don't think you even need to be an "athlete" to think it is funny. Speaking for those of us who pick up a game of whatever sport whenever we can, I can't imagine pulling up in fear of blowing out a hammie. However, I've yet to be paid for my athletic prowess at the level that would make me think twice about how important a 40 yard dash blog challenge is. If anyone wants to set that experiment up, let me know.
I think A-Rod should start a blog. The topics could include helpful hints as to where one might find quality strippers while traveling in North America. And how best to hide from 98mph fastballs from the various teams you've annoyed while putting your entire teams lineup in danger.

I think you need to have multiple pictures taken with various hats (hardhat, cowboyhat, beanie, etc.) and let the 10 spot readers choose which one we like best for your profile shot.
Let me hear from you

(One note on the blogger comments: The only rule is to keep it clean. No curse words, please. This is a family blog.)
