Picking a f-a-v-o-r-i-t-e
Raiders receiver Jerry Porter may be selfish, but he's not stupid. Porter had said he wanted to change numbers (from 84 to 81) this offseason to signal a fresh start and new attitude, though has changed his mind after being told it would cost him $210,000. That's the amount the team and league would charge him as reimbursement for unsold jerseys with the "old" number. Said Porter: "Man, there's a couple of nice cars I'd like to get for that money. I could buy a nice vacation home, or at least go half on one with someone else." Gee, we wouldn't want Porter to have to scrape by on his current total of seven cars.

Has the mom filed the lawsuit yet?
The mom didn't need to file a lawsuit - I think the National Spelling Bee was included in Dean Hancock's lawsuit.
I loved the Spelling Bee winner's comments at the end "it's really just memorization". Nothing like brutal honest to disparage the event you just won. Let's wait for LeBron's "it's only putting a sphere in a metal hoop" after the Cavs eliminate the Pistons in Game 6!
