Keeping the Man down

It's good to see somebody finally take a step toward cleaning up politics. Little did we know it would be the Iowa State athletic department.

When the speaker of the Iowa House told Iowa State officials that he wanted to buy 175 tickets at face value to this year's Iowa-Iowa State football game in Ames for an annual fundraising/schmoozing event, he was told it would be fine -- so long as he bought 175 season tickets. Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard announced this winter that the only way to get a seat for the popular intrastate showdown would be to buy a season ticket. Pollard refused to make an exception for the lawmakers.

It seems the politicos, though, didn't think the glad-handing would be as good against the likes of Kent State and Northern Iowa. Instead, they bought 175 seats to the game from the University of Iowa's 4,000-ticket allotment and will sit with the visitors. Pollard also says that if any presidential candidate wants to attend the Iowa-Iowa State game in the key early primary state, he or she will also need to buy a season ticket. In other words, they'll get screwed like everyone else. Power to the people!

In a related story, Hillary Clinton announced that in addition to the Cubs and Yanks, she's also a lifelong Cyclones fan. Oh, and Hawkeyes too.

Regarding Hillary Clinton, she has announced that if she "knew then what she knows now" she would never have become a Yankees fan.

I follow sports a lot and am not familiar with this "Clinton" person. Is she the lady campaigning to replace some guy named George (Steinbrenner?)? Doesn't she state that this George fellow has directed his organization into an unwinnable situation possibly wasting resources she feels are better utilized teaching (young pitchers)? Didn't she claim that this "George fellow" promised victory this year?
I think I'm just confused today!

Hillary would claim to be a big fan of O.J., Ray Lewis and Pacman Jones if it would get her the "accused but not convicted criminal" vote.

To whoever keeps leaving a particular vein of Hillary joke, the reason I keep rejecting them is because I view them as a crack on her perceived sexual orientation. I don't think it's appropriate to go there.

Who do you think she is, Jeff Garcia?

Hillary would "marry" George Steinbrenner if somehow that got her on the road to being MLB's commisioner.
