Sneak Peek: All-Pro Football 2K8
When EA purchased exclusive third-party video game rights for NFL teams and players, its competition was left out in the dark. At the time, 2K Sports' NFL2K series was considered by many fans the top dog over the Madden series. But without an NFL license, 2K was forced to back off football for several years. Now 2K is back with All-Pro Football 2K8 -- a game featuring former NFL greats playing on fictitious teams.
The last 2k football game was lightyears ahead of Madden. With features still not found on todays Madden games (First person football anyone?). It had a very slick ESPN presentation, complete with highlights from around the week each week hosted by Chris "Boomer" Berman. Thats not to mention that the actual football gameplay was better too. All this at a cut-rate price right out of the gate made NFL 2K5 the best football game in the last half decade. I started out as a Madden fan, but I could not stand by their stagnant product when 2k games was actually trying to improve then genre, not just pump out a roster update with a new player on the cover every year.
ESPN NFL 2k5 was better than any version of Madden has ever been. Now, with All-Pro 2k8 returning with legendary players and the same great gameplay, any football fan worth their salt needs to buy it! Why? If it's successful the series will continue each year, and provide older players who didn't make much money during their primes a yearly source of income.
By far since it's conception with the Dreamcast, the 2K football game has blown away Madden and that's no small feat. I always enjoyed playing both but if 2K had come out before Madden, not many people would have given Madden a chance.
The only reason I finally broke down and bought a PS3 is because the new 2K football isn't being made for the PS2.
All 2K games have been better than EA with the exception of the NCAA Football which is actually better than Madden to date. Madden fans are only standing by Madden because you have no other choices, but even when 2K football was on Sega Dreamcast it was better than madden. If i am correct I believe that Madden got their idea for QB Vision from 2K football. Madden is lame and is very shallow in comparison to its own college football so its no surprise that people who have missed 2K making football games because of their past quality will be happy to see 2K return.
