Madden 09 sims Favre's possible comeback

We don't have to wait to find out how a team would fare with the suddenly un-retired cover boy Brett Favre at the helm. EA Sports has used its Madden NFL 09 game engine to simulate the 2008 seasons of these four teams with and without Favre as their quarterback: Bucs, Jets, Packers and Vikings.

Regardless of whether he does come back and play in real life, Favre will be available as a player for in the upcoming Madden set for release on Aug. 12. He will be on the "NFL Greats" roster and, in Dynasty mode, can be found in the free-agent pool.

Here's how the reported Favre suitors would do with him at the helm compared to the starting QBs they are slated to use:

Tampa Bay Bucs

Beijing 2008
EA Sports
With Favre: 12-4, lose divisional playoff game vs. Eagles, 34-28
Favre's stats: 3,827 yards, 34 TDs, 19 INTs, 98 Rating

Without Favre: 11-5, lose conference championship to Eagles, 35-28
Jeff Garcia's stats: 3,508 yards, 19 TDs, 80 Rating

New York Jets

Beijing 2008
EA Sports
With Favre: 11-4-1, lose wild card game to Browns, 22-19
Favre's stats: 3,964 yards, 31 TD, 15 INT, 103.1 Rating

Without Favre: 9-7, no playoffs.
Chad Pennington's stats: 3,542 yards, 22 TD, 108.4 Rating

Minnesota Vikings

Beijing 2008
EA Sports
With Favre: 10-6, lose wild card game to Bucs, 11-6
Favre's stats: 3,356 yards, 29 TD, 10 INT, 100.7 Rating

Without Favre: 5-11, no playoffs.
Tarvaris Jackson's stats: 2,962 yards, 11 TDs, 66.8 Rating

Green Bay Packers

Madden 09
Will Brett Favre reprise his role as Packers QB?

With Favre: lose divisional playoff game to Cowboys, 25-17
Favre's stats: 3,769 yards, 24 TD, 10 INT, 100.7 Rating

Without Favre: 12-4, lose divisional playoff game vs. Bucs, 37-31, OT
Aaron Rodgers' stats: 3,211 yards, 26 TD, 95.6 Rating

So according to Madden NFL 09, Favre isn't going to win a Super Bowl with any of these four teams. And the Bucs lose earlier in the playoffs with Favre as their QB. You're better off staying home, Brett.

5-11?? 10-6??? Was this simulated by Packer programmers?

The Vikes were 8-8 last year & had the best rushing attack and best rushing defense in the NFL. This off season has been one of the best (if not the best) the team has ever had, as they brought in several quality players.

They added Jared Allen to address their biggest weakness on defense (pass rush) and if they add Favre they address their biggest weakness on offense (QB) this is going to be a pretty darn good football team.

In all of these simulations, Favre throws for better than a 90 QB rating and improves on his replacement's record. How is that an argument that he should stay retired? I know the guy wants to win a Super Bowl, but do we really believe his return would be a failure if he didn't get another ring? If this is the standard for 38-year old QB's, there should be some pressure on a few others to hang up the helmet. Honestly, this is BS. Let the guy play football, and quit patronizing him by suggesting he'd had left some divine legacy if not for his irrepressible love of the game.

farve could have the chance to win the super bowl in tampa next season as a viking. they have an amazing o line with the best one two puch in running backs peterson and taylor . the ? on the offense however is the wide outs. will berian have another carrer year like last year and will sidney rice step up to emerge as one of the vikes best. defense wise the vikings come back with the numer 1 run defense the ? for that gruop will be the db's sharper is still a premier guy but is aging look for madeiu williams and the top pick n thier draft tyrell johnson to have some big chances for playing time with the loss of d smith in the pff season fact of the matter with farve at the realm look for minnesota to bring onr back homw

if that were true, then the colts and patriiots would win the super bowl last year. but guess what? they didn't.
