Your picks? It's feeling like a Pittsburgh kind of night, even if the Panthers get lower billing on the Madison Square Garden marquee.
Update in the postgame ... We had the wrong feeling on Pitt. Guess who just won tournament MVP? The rest of the All-Tourament team: Randy Foye, 'Nova; Aaron Gray, Pitt; Carl Krauser; Pitt; Demetris Nichols, Syracuse; Darryl Watkins, 'Cuse.
I love all the attention that the BEast is getting because of this tourney. This is the best time of year. 'Cuse may be getting all the ink but don't overlook Pitt. Don't forget that Pitt is the deeper and more talented team and proved it throughout the year. (minus the loss to SJ) Either way, congrats to all the 'Cuse fans. Welcome to "the dance". Hail to Pitt by a TD
i just can't believe that UConn and Villanova were knocked out...i guess i overlooked mcnamara and pitt like most people...i won't anymore though. i think syracuse will get a 7 seed and pitt will squeak to a 2
I heard a lot about Syracuse chances to enter in NIT before starting the big east. But they proved how wrong their critics there.Syracuse doesn't have much depth but they have too much passion and involvement.Hope this team will do well in March.
I recently moved to Syracuse from Atlanta.Basketball is there in the blood of every Syracusian.I think the fans -who worship Boeham and Mcnamara like God- made all these possible for this team.Anywhere else I seen people who are so mad at their Basketball team....
Incredible game...especially if you're a Syracuse fan. This is a conference tournament that ranks up with the best of all conference tournaments.
Does Syracuse have a shot to make some noise in the actually NCAA tournament? I think a good seed (4 or 5? 6?) they could make it to 16. I think that would be an incredible accomplishment for this team.
But wow...just an incredible tournament. The Big East has shown that it is by far the best conference in the country this year.
How about that "overrated" SU team, lead by the "overrated" Gerry McNamara. While this isn't as sweet as the 2003 NC, this is certainly a close second. Like many other 'CUSE fans, I thought our season was over a week ago. Now, we're off to the Big Dance and a date in the Sweet 16.
Congrats to Pitt on a valiant effort and an admirable comeback, but tonight (and this week) belonged to us.
I don't know about you, but didn't it seem that the refs had it in for Pitt. I can't believe they did not call a foul on 'Cuse when Krauser went for the shot when Pitt was down 1 or 2 with couple minutes left. It just seemed all the calls were going against Pitt.
Yeah ... yeah ... yeah ... we could also say Devendorf's legs were squarely settled on the floor before he was called for a blocking foul ... and a lot of other "calls that never were." The point made this week is, Syracuse doesn't die as easily as anyone assumes they will. Yes, the do sometimes disappoint, but when forced to fight, they fight ... like it is their last. Just tell me, 4 games in a row, three against top 25 teams one of which is a #1 seed IN THE COUNTRY?! Whether it is the refs' calls that resulted to the wins, or luck (I have no idea how you get lucky, four days in a row against top ranked teams), or whatever else, you've gotta, at one point, stop hating and give it to the victors for putting up such an amazing show, whichever way they did it ... ESPECIALLY after all the hoolla balloo about being over-rated and trash about UCONN latting their fingers do the walking all over the 'Cuse, as if the 'Cuse were a Yellow Pages directory! So, yes, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND NCAA HERE WE COME!!
I watched every game in this tournament. The refs sucked for all 11 games of this tournament. That's why many of the games were so close at the end. This happens all the time in the Big East, where the refs allow gaems to tighten up. It's a shame, because the league is competitive enough to have the teams mount their own comebacks with out the help of the refs. And of course Pitt wasn't going to get any calls, because it was Boehiem on one bench and Dixon on the other. 30 years to 3 years. Gee, I wonder what might happen?
