Tell us Your Bracket Games

Oakland Arena
Winthrop is SIOC's pick of low seed that will make the most noise in the tournament. What other bracket games do you play besides predicting the games?

The tournament field has been set and over the next week we'll give you a chance to weigh in on which teams will dominate, surprise, disappoint and ultimately win (though if you can't wait until later in the week, we suggest you check out our four regional breakdowns). Today, however, it's all about the bracket itself, and the different bracket games you can play with your friends.

Of course, nothing beats SI.com's $1 million bracket challenge, but if you want to get a little more creative, we suggest the last 2 left pool, where you're asked just to pick the two teams that will play in the championship game. Other alternative bracket games including picking which lowest seed will go the furthest in the tournament, which state will be best represented in the Sweet 16, picking the over-under on mid-majors upsetting major conference teams, and of course, the non-sports fan special (picking teams based solely on the uniforms, team names and feeling about the school).

We're bored with the traditional pools. Give us your suggestions on how to spice it up?

I like to pick against my girlfriend. She watches about one game a year, but always destroys me in the picks. I suggest every guy put their knowledge up against their lady's. You'd be suprised how good they are.

I always enjoy picking how many times an announcer complements Duke, even when the Blue Devils aren't in the game that's being announced.

At least the Dukies will finally lose in the first round this year.

I'm psyched about the tourney this year because I don't think there's a clear favorite. Also, I checked out the last 2 left site you mentioned. That's a really unique spin on March Madness so I added it to my office pool mix. Thanks.

Billy Packer is a Moron. His son has a regional sports radio show here in the Carolinas, and he even says his dad is a moron.

One caller called in asked if he felt like the Iraqi Information Minister who kept coming on TV saying there were no American's in Iraq while they were kicking in the back door.

It's March baby, and that means one thing in college sports.... BASEBALL!!!

I hate Dick V. He's the most obnoxious person on Earth... I'd rather watch 24/7 coverage of who is Anna Nicole Smith's Baby's daddy than listen to Dick talk about how great Duke is.

I like to step up one bracket where if the mascots were in a fight, then who would come out on top...I did it one year and I had Michigan State winning it all, (see "300" if you don't think a Spartan is the toughest mascot) and they made the final four out of nowhere. Michigan State is also winning this year, too.

How to spice up the NCAA bracket? Allow the general public to publicly ridicule the "basketball experts" for all of their wrong picks as they happen. Either that or line them up and let people shoot painballs at them for each missed "guaranteed pick"... I'd love to take a shot or two at Digger and DickyV when Notre Dame and Duke/NC/any-ACC-team loses!

As fun as the brackets are, it always comes down to the final game. And, there doesn't seem to be much of a variety.

That Last 2 Left game you talk about is really cool. I see they also do women's and NIT. Thanks for the link!

It won't be the same that CUSE is not in the house. They will have to ride out this storm.

Pick Illinois to pull the upset against VT. It's the easiest 5-12 seed matchup to pull the upset.

What me and my buddy boyle do is each make up a costume that looks like our favorite mascot. Once we finish our costumes, we put them on and do some challenges. The first challenge is a dance off. This is my personal favorite because I love to grind. The next thing we do is wrestle. First one to rip the others costume off wins. We try to do best out of 3 but blblblblbloyle always wins the first two so the third is unneccesary. I LOVE MARCH MADNESS.

I like to wear a loin cloth made of peanut brittle, a rainbow wig, and scream at my hamsters "the end is near, the end is near".

The I pick Duke to win.

My fearless Prediction - UNC

The best way to make the tournament fun is to pick one player from each seed, so that you have a total of 16 players. You get that players total points in each game that they play. So if they were to lose in the first round you would only get the points from that round. The person with the most points at the end takes all.
