Who deserves a Thank You

It's Thanksgiving week and, with the biggest college football game of the millennium officially behind us, SIOC figured this is a good chance to look back at 2006 and see who deserves a thank you and who should be thankful. This is our quick list:

Florida students should be thankful that Joakim Noah and Al Horford returned for another season. It's not often that two sure-fire lottery picks leave millions on the table because they want to return to college. In fact, we can't think of another time it's happened.

The state of New Jersey should give a giant thank you to coach (and New Jersey native) Greg Schiano for reviving college football in the Garden State. It appears that Schiano will stay at Rutgers for the long haul, as he is contracted through 2012 and has said numerous times that he's not going anywhere (although Miami will certainly make a run at him during the offseason).

Adam Morrison should be thankful that Gonzaga gave him a scholarship. In a recent interview with Inside Hoops, Morrison was asked where he would have gone if not Gonzaga. Morrison’s response: "The honest truth is, Gonzaga was the only school that gave me an offer. So, Gonzaga from Day One." Looks like that was a good decision by the Zags.

Duke students should be thankful to Mike Krzyzewski for giving the school three national championships and a team that is always in the Top 10. Why? Have you seen the football team? Over the past five years, the not-so-mighty Blue Devils are 9-48, including this year's 0-11 record. No wonder Coach K is such a hero.

That's our list. Who or what is on yours?
